Fibromyalgia is an odd condition in which the victim suffers from fatigue and 11 to 18 painful pressure points scattered on the body. There are currently no clinical tests that can prove a patient has Fibromyalgia but it is estimated that 3 - 8 million people suffer from this condition in the United States alone.
While the cause of Fibromyalgia is unknown doctors believe some potential causes are:
- Injury
- Infection
- Chemical changes in the brain
- Sleep disruptions
- Changes in muscle metabolism
- Abnormalities in the nervous system
There is no cure for Fibromyalgia but medicine and therapy is used to alleviate the pain and reestablish sleep patterns.
